Robotic bartender hits the beach as Bali returns to form
November 16th, 2022
Produced by Makr Shakr, robotic bartender Toni will be mixing drinks at an upcoming resort chain in Bali in 2023. This marks the first time the brand sets foot on a tropical beach, coinciding with Indonesia’s tourism relaunch.
Makr Shakr, the world’s leading manufacturer of robotic bartenders, is set to make its debut at a tropical beach location. Its flagship robot Toni will be unveiled at the bar of a brand-new resort chain in Bali, Indonesia. Coinciding with its reopening for tourism, the arrival of Toni will give the seafront region a new look, and offer bargoers an efficient, spectacular and social cocktail experience.
Scheduled to open in June 2023, the new bar will be situated just 200 meters from the shorelines of the Nelayan Beach, in the village of Canggu. Away from the hustle and bustle of nearby Kuta, Canggu is characterized by its serene ambience which lets visitors immerse themselves in the traditional culture and various lifestyle activities. The combination of past and present will be further enriched by the futuristic technology of Toni. The drink-mixing robot can hold up to than 150 different bottles until its ceiling and prepare a countless combination of classic and original cocktails. Its two mechanical arms execute all the beverage recipes with accuracy, since they are equipped with sensors that allow them to perform sophisticated motions like shaking, stirring and muddling.
“To many, the automated arms of Makr Shakr might evoke impressions of a sci-fi movie. But by replacing electronic music with crashing waves, the new bar will show people a softer side of robotics,” Emanuele Rossetti, Chief Executive Officer of Makr Shakr, says. “The movements of Toni perfectly encapsulate the exuberance of Bali’s natural setting and its diverse communities. It is also a prolific conversation starter, bringing people closer together with a magnetic show in front and drinks in their hands.”
The new venture in Bali represents another step of Makr Shakr’s expansion to Southeast Asia, complementing the local hospitality industry with novel mixologist experiences. In early 2023, two robotic bartending units will be installed in two different terminals of Singapore’s Changi Airport – one of the highest rated airports in the world. Across the Pacific Ocean, a new unit of Toni will also become operational next year in Dallas, USA.
