Based in Italy, our R&D team develops state-of-the-art mixologist and barista robots that operate across a wide range of settings, from high-end hospitality to large-scale events, addressing labor challenges while bringing joy, elegance, and innovation to every pour. The Role Makr Shakr is looking for an Industrial Automation / Robotics Engineer Intern to join our technical team in our Turin office. You will support the development and commissioning of our machines, working side by side with the team and gaining direct, hands-on experience with industrial robots, PLCs, and real machines. You will be involved in both in-house maintenance and development activities and in the commissioning and start-up phases of our systems. Key Responsibilities As an Industrial Automation / Robotics Engineer Intern, you will be involved in a wide range of activities, including: • Developing and modifying motion programs for ABB and KUKA robots • Programming and configuring operating sequences for robotic cells • Testing and optimizing robot movements • Troubleshooting and fault finding on Siemens PLC systems • Reading and modifying existing PLC programs • Diagnosing issues related to sensors, actuators, I/O, and industrial communications • Commissioning and start-up of machines built by Makr Shakr • Running functional tests and verifying correct machine operation before delivery • Supporting installation and commissioning activities at customer sites • Collaborating with the Software, Mechanical, and Electrical teams during the development of new systems

  1. Technical background (e.g. Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or related fields)
  2. Technical curiosity and strong problem-solving skills
  3. Genuine interest in robotics and industrial automation
  4. Willingness to learn in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
  5. Interest in the following technologies, with prior knowledge being a plus:


  • Industrial robotics, with ABB and/or KUKA robots
  • Siemens PLCs and the TIA Portal / Step 7 environment
  • PLC logic, digital and analog signals
  • Industrial communication networks and protocols
  • Reading electrical schematics


No previous professional experience with the technologies listed is required.
